CPD FAQs
Here are the answers to the most Frequently Asked Questions about the Postgraduate Qualifications in Destination Management. Please do not hesitate to contact us if your query is not answered here.
Do I have to register for the full qualification?
Yes. At the moment you have to register for the PG Certificate, PG Diploma or MSc, depending on where you are in the progression.
The route is PG Certificate, then PG Diploma and finally the dissertation to complete the MSc.

Yes. Leeds Metropolitan University does have the facility for students who are paying their own fees to pay by instalments using direct debit.
Can I get help with costs?
Employers may have study support or book funds which may help you to cover the cost of textbooks. Ask your line manager or your HR department.
What time commitment is expected from me?
Every person learns and studies at a different rate, but you should expect to spend around 15-20 hours per week for the 15 weeks of each module.
What happens if work or family pressures reduce my ability to study?
Leeds Metropolitan University regulations allow for a short extension of submission deadlines provided this is agreed in advance with the module leader and there are good reasons why you cannot meet the deadline set at the start of the module.
In certain circumstances, it may even be possible for you to defer a module i.e. withdraw temporarily from the course and pick up again with the next cohort.
We cannot stress enough how important it is to keep in regular contact with us and to discuss any difficulties with your module leader or any member of the course team at an early stage, so that problems can be tackled before they become insurmountable.
How will my employer benefit from my studying these qualifications?
They will benefit from the following:
- Your increased ability and confidence to contribute at a higher level to the work of the organisation
- The opportunity, through work related assignments, to benefit from constructively critical appraisal of policies and practice, and wider access to domestic and international best practice
- The ability to access at no cost the latest market intelligence such as Mintel reports – normally from £1500 per report
