Membership Categories and Rates
To be a member of TMI, you must first be a member of The Tourism Society.
If you don't know which TMI membership category best suits you, please see the entry criteria below. Grades are based on qualifications, experience and your current position. If you know which category you wish to apply for, please click here.
The price shown below is the amount you will have to pay in addition to your Tourism Society membership to enjoy the benefits of TMI.
When you have decided which category you wish to apply for, complete your online form to join Tourism Society, indicating your preferred TMI category. You will then be asked to complete a short TMI eligibility form which enables us to asses your eligibility for that category.
FULL MEMBER, MTMI (£45) : Open to employees of organisations with destination management responsibilities who have an approved tourism qualification plus 3 years appropriate experience OR 5 years appropriate experience.
ASSOCIATE, ATMI (£45) : Open to employees of organisations with destination management responsibilities who have an approved tourism qualification OR 3 years appropriate experience.
NEW ENTRANT (£30) : TMI existing non supplier affiliates i.e. someone working in destination management who doesn't have either the qualification or the experience to make ATMI
STUDENT (£10) : Only open to students undertaking a course accredited by the Institute.
RETIRED (£NIL) : Open to existing Associate and Full Members on full retirement. No application form required.
FELLOW, FTMI (£45) : Open to Full Members by invitation only in acknowledgement of their contribution to the Institute or industry.

DEFINITION OF DESTINATION MANAGEMENT
Appropriate Organisations include: National Tourist Board, Regional Tourist Board, Local Authority, Destination Management Organisation, Destination Marketing Organisation, Destination Conference Bureau, Area Tourism Partnership, National Park Authority, AONB Partnership, Higher Education Tourism Departments or similar
Appropriate Job Types include: Tourism Research and Strategy, Tourism Marketing, Tourism IT and Web Management, Tourist Information Collection and Dissemination, Visitor Services Management, Town Centre Management, Tourism Training and Quality Standards Management
