Warning:This event has passed. Please return to the events section to view all current and future events.

Our next event is the 2018 Spring Hot Topic, a one day event, that will take place on Friday 18 May, at the Anglia Ruskin University, East Road, Cambridge.  Registration is from 9.15 for 9.40 start, finishing at 4.30pm.   The full programme, below, can be downloaded here.

Online booking has now closed if you would like to attend please call the organiser, Nell Barrington on 07968807022 or email nell@barringtonassociates.co.uk.

A Friday has been selected as delegates may want to extend their stay over into the weekend to enjoy the ancient atmosphere of one of the UK's finest medieval cities. A networking event is being planned for the Thursday evening with details to be announced soon. The Hot Topic theme this year will be on the challenge of funding destination management and destination activity - at national and local level. There will be presentations from several destinations who are following diverse but successful models of sustainable core funding, with the opportunity to learn from such practice. We also have speakers from funding organisations such as the Heritage Lottery Fund and examples of innovative funding packages for tourism project development. Woven between this key theme will be presentations on developing a visitor economy "off the beaten track" and on the latest developments in the business tourism sector.

Pricing can be found here

Delegates that wish to arrive on 17th May can enjoy a free private walking and punt tour of Cambridge kindly hosted by VisitCambridge.  It starts at 4.30pm and finishes at 6pm.  Numbers are limited to 24 so prior booking is essential here

This will be followed by a networking BBQ supper at The Pint Shop.  You can find more details here.

We organise two national events per year, in spring and autumn, each attended by upwards of 90 tourism destination management practitioners, consultants, industry and higher education representatives and students.

Delegates regularly say that:

  • TMI events are excellent value for money
  • What they learn at each event will be of use in their work
  • They value both the formal and informal networking opportunities
  • The speakers and topics are excellent, inspiring and informative
