Now a management and leadership lecturer who is also running his own music business, Howard's previous role at the Audit Commission was the assessment and improvement of public services

Howard is a Fellow of TMI and a former President.  He is also a member of the CPD Working Group.

  • Rebranding Leeds to develop a positive image for the city with a new generation of potential visitors and inward investors
  • Maximising the economic value of major events in Leeds, including Euro 96 (£12m) and Love Parade (£13m).
  • Relaunching the Leeds Conference Bureau with a new business model that included a commission based structure
  • Receiving the England for Excellence Marketing Award for Clubbing Breaks in 1998, and the Society for Interpretation of Britain’s Heritage Award for the 350th anniversary events to mark English Civil War in Leicestershire
  • Becoming President of Tourism Management Institute in 2005 and Fellow of TMI in 2008
  • Leading high risk cultural and tourism inspections across the North, including for Liverpool Council in the lead up to the Capital of Culture, Manchester post Commonwealth Games and for two National Parks
  • Taking a national lead role for Tourism in the Audit Commission and regional role for culture
  • Developed ‘Productive Partnerships’ product for advisory services arm of Audit Commission in 2011
