Full year figures for bed space and occupancy in England are now available from the VisitBritain web site Notwithstanding the change in the composition of the panel (since June 2017 the data have been collected from a syndicated panel provided by hotel market data and benchmarking company STR) the results indicate that there has been no change in room and bed space occupancy compared to 2016, with the figures sitting at 77% and 55% respectively.
Great Britain Tourism Survey results for November 2017 have also been published recently. These indicate that November saw an increase of 2 million in domestic overnight trips in Great Britain, from 7.4 m to 9.4 m, with number of nights up by +17% to 21.8 m and expenditure up by the same percentage to £1.7 bn. Across 2017 to end November, GB trips were up by 1%, and spend increased by 2%, although nights remained static. You can download the full report from the Resources section of the TMI web site.
