TMI Hot Topic 2019 is All About Events
24th January 2019
This year’s TMI Hot Topic on 23 May, at Westminster University’s Regent Street campus, focuses on “Evaluating the role of events in sustainable destination management”. We’re keen to hear from destination managers with a story to tell about attracting events so if you’ve got a good story to share, or know someone who has, please contact Simon Curtis, TMI Head of Events. Please put the date in your diary and register your interest in attending to be the first to know when we're open for booking.
The University of Westminster started life as the Polytechnic Institution, the UK's first polytechnic university, in 1838. Much of the original building survives at 309 Regent Street, next to the BBC headquarters and the Langham Hotel. This fine building will be the setting for our Hot Topic conference on 23 May 2019. Our theme this year is "Evaluating the role of events in sustainable destination management" and we will be exploring the world of events and festivals to look at both the positive contribution that they can make to destination activity – but also confront the inherent risks and challenge some of the rhetoric around impact. We know delegates like to learn from inspirational case studies, whether they're about overcoming challenges or out and out good news stories, so if you have experience of attracting or developing events to your destination and can share the learning points from the process and/or the ways to evaluate their impact, please get in touch with TMI's Head of Events, Simon Curtis
