Career Opportunity: Executive Director, Islands Partnership
14th May 2019
The Islands’ Partnership, the DMO for the Isles of Scilly is seeking a new Executive Director to lead the organisation and the islands’ tourism industry into a new and exciting chapter. An outstandingly beautiful cluster of islands, 28 miles off the coast of Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly is one of the most distinct and tourism-dependent destinations in the UK, supporting some 80% of the islands’ employment. Since forming in 2012, the Islands’ Partnership has provided strategic leadership to the islands’ vital visitor economy and has grown in both stature and influence to become a respected organisation and a trusted delivery partner, most recently producing a new Destination Management Plan (DMP) that has set a bold new direction to help future-proof tourism on the islands. With the incumbent post-holder leaving the islands after four and a half years this summer, the IP is therefore seeking a new Executive Director to build on this momentum and to help steer the organisation forwards with confidence, further strengthening our leadership role and delivering on the ambitions set out in the DMP.
The Islands Partnership are seeking an accomplished tourism professional capable of providing organisational and industry leadership and the ability to secure the confidence and support of stakeholders at every level. You will need to be a consummate communicator with a proven track record of building highly effective relationships and working in partnership with a range of stakeholders. You will have practical experience of destination marketing and a proven ability to achieve results through the supportive leadership of a dedicated staff team. You will need strong business and commercial acumen with experience of securing significant financial support from both public and commercial sources and in leading successful projects. In return, the post offers a competitive salary and an opportunity to work in one of the most extraordinary places in the UK. For further details on the role, please download the full Job Pack here.
