50 years of promoting tourism

Fifty years on from the Development of Tourism Act 1969, the VisitBritain web site has an overview of the way tourism and tourism promotion have grown since that Act paved the way for the British Tourist Authority and the English Tourist Board, now known as VisitBritain/VisitEngland. For those who have been in this industry a while, it’s a bit of a wander down memory lane, albeit that it focuses mainly on in bound rather than domestic tourism development and promotion. For younger/more recent members, it’s a way to gain a bit of insight into how the national agency has developed.
