Scotland launches campaign to highlight vital role played by the licensed trade in the Scottish food and drink renaissance and community life.
Some may remember last year’s Original Social Network campaign by brewer Charles Wells to promote Young’s pubs as gathering and meeting places. The idea has now been taken up and launched in Scotland to highlight the vital role played by the licensed trade in the life of Scotland. 5,000 pubs in Scotland today employ 43,000 people, they are playing a leading role in the Scottish food and drink renaissance and are at the heart of communities. The campaign is supported by the BHA, Scotland Licensed Trade Association, Scottish Beer & Pub Association and major industry players Heineken and Diageo. Across the UK, beer and pubs contribute £22bn to GDP and generate £13bn in tax revenue, according to the British Beer & Pub Industry, supporting almost 900,000 jobs.
