We are very grateful to our sponsors who make TMI events possible and affordable. TMI Annual Convention 2021 was made possible by our hugely supportive sponsors: Simpleview, TXGB and Quality in Tourism

Simpleview

Since 2001, Simpleview has empowered more than 900 DMOs with customised tools, knowledge and creativity to help tell these destinations' unique stories.  It was great to have the support of headline TMI Sponsors Simpleview at the Convention this year. Managing Director Richard Veal was welcomed by delegates and the TMI Board and gave a thought-provoking presentation looking at the digital future for tourism. A new report has been developed by Simpleview highlighting the ‘Digital influence’ of destinations across all of their media channels which gives an insightful view into how they are performing comparatively with others across the UK.

Quality in Tourism

Key sponsors Quality In Tourism provided an engaging and thought provoking session at the TMI Annual Convention this week. Leading on the specialist theme of sustainability connected to quality the team myth busted the concepts of ‘Green washing’ the practice of businesses telling everyone they have ‘Sustainability credentials’ when not fully engaged in sustainable environmental practices and ‘Green hushing’ which is the opposite.

This is where businesses are not actively promoting the great things they are doing to support sustainable and environmental best practice. Members were invited to support ‘Tourismdeclares.com’ and to sign up as individual businesses to raise the profile of the current climate emergency globally and the team shared the new ‘Google’ e-certificate programme which includes Quality in Tourisms' REST (Responsible, Ethical and Sustainable Tourism) accreditation, the only UK accreditation currently recognised by Google, with delegates as an opportunity for their members to prove their Sustainability credentials . Quality In Tourism and their team have over 25 years of experience and a completely moderinised accreditation scheme to help all types of tourism businesses achieve their full potential.

TXGB

James Berzins, Managing Director of TXGB gave a thought-provoking presentation on TXGB in light of the recent DMO Review. The presentation highlighted the importance of showcasing destinations through a consumer lens and demonstrated how TXGB can help with this and a range of challenges faced by DMOs. For example, how TXGB can help destinations be more sustainable with access to better data and tools that drive dispersal by mobilising the long tail of tourism suppliers. More and more DMO’s are signing up to TXGB as a distribution system and it plays a key role in the current National Lottery Funded campaign being promoted by Visit Britain.  TXGB responded to the Review of DMOs and you can read more on their response here
